Today’s post is going to be something a little different. I have compiled a collection of quotes- on theme, of course- from various works, movies, novels, songs, and sayings. While these are not technically classified as poetry they all read as such.
Prepare to be romanced…
“I have a strange feeling with regard to you. As if I had a string somewhere under my left ribs, tightly knotted to a similar string in you. And if you were to leave I'm afraid that cord of communion would snap. And I have a notion that I'd take to bleeding inwardly. As for you, you'd forget me.” - Charlotte Brontë, Jane Eyre
"How many laugh lines there
must be on my face
that can be attributed to you.
I carry you with me-
like this-
not just in memories
but in tangible form,
and with age,
as old fires cool,
these lines will deepen
and I guess this is how we will
grow old together now. "
- Akif Kichloo, Without You
“ I loved her against reason, against promise, against peace, against hope, against happiness, against all discouragement that could be.” - Charles Dickens, Great Expectations
“So, I love you because the entire universe conspired to help me find you.”- Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist
“ I would recognize you in total darkness, were you mute and I deaf. I would recognize you in another lifetime entirely, in different bodies, different times. And I would love you in all of this, until the very last star in the sky burnt into oblivion.” - Madeline Miller, The Song of Achilles
“ If I were to kiss you then go to hell, I would. So then I can brag with the devils I saw heaven without ever entering it.”- William Shakespeare (maybe)
“You have bewitched me, body and soul, and I love, I love, I love you. I never wish to be parted from you from this day.’- Pride and Prejudice (2005)
“Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same.”- Emily Brontë
“There is nowhere in existence you could go that I wouldn’t find you,” - Rebecca Yarros, Fourth Wing
“My heart is so full of you I can hardly call it my own." - Liana Rādulescu
“ I had never met a soul who could speak my language, until there was you. You are fluent in me.” - S. Colinson
“ To the world you may be one person, but to one person, you may be the world.” - Dr. Suess
